Expansions, Supplements, and Adventures
Here are four expansion pitches I’m dying to make should Those Who Return find its crowd. Each one is a fresh playground with a clear premise for the table.
Lands of Fog and Shadow
Inspired by Dark Souls, Berserk, and Castlevania: Symphony of the Night
The sun is a rumor, and the map is a graveyard. The Damned wake in a wasted realm of fallen keeps, bone groves, and hungry divinities that bargain in sorrow. Power whispers from every ruin. Corruption waits in every victory. For a few brave souls, there is still room to plant something good, even if it only blooms for a night.
Play it for: tragic champions, high stakes choices, and small lights that feel earned. Seize a citadel, break a tyrant, steal one more sunrise.
Digital Human Freight
Inspired by Altered Carbon, Ghost in the Shell, and Snow Crash
Death got priced. The wealthy Galeas keep perfect backups and step into fresh bodies while everyone else pays once and is done. Minds become contraband. Bodies are inventory. Identity is a marketplace with bad lighting and worse laws.
Play it for: neon conspiracies and memory heists. Lift a lifetime from a vault. Run a clone across a border. Determine the cost of a person when they can be duplicated.
Curse Breakers
Inspired by Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden, Wonder Woman, and Pan’s Labyrinth
The Great War tears the veil and calls monsters out of grief, rage, and despair. Only the Breakers, bound by a terrible Love, can cut those Curses away. Trenches become hunting grounds. Prayers become tactics. Mercy becomes a weapon.
Play it for: mud, wire, and wonder. Hold a line against living nightmares. Spend what you have left to save one more life. Win small and make it matter.
Forever is Harder Than It Looks
Inspired by The Old Guard, Highlander, and Mission: Impossible
The Vanguard has worked together for centuries and made a myth out of hard jobs. Then a leader vanished. Now, trusted contacts are dying, and the killer knows the crew’s history better than they do. Immortality makes every grudge personal.
Play it for: immortal crew drama and surgical ops. Track the traitor. Pay old debts. Prove that forever only works if the family holds.
